L'Académie : docere, movere, delectare
welcome

Welcome to L'Académie. It is our pleasure to invite you to our 2009-2010 season at Marsh Chapel of Boston University. The programs for this season will definitely teach, move, and delight. Our December program "Three Madmen" - Love, Jealousy and Death as expressed through the vocal music of Charpentier and Clerambault. February's program, "(s)he's just not that into you," exposes the conundrum that is love through love songs from the 17th-century English court. Finally, we finish in April with "Chasing Corelli," an aural tapestry of the concerti grossi form, as fashioned through the hands of Corelli, Handel, Locatelli and Van Wassenaer.

Prepare to be entertained...

news

7 Jan: Ton Koopman and L'Académie featured in an article in the Boston Herald.

We are delighted to announce that Ton Koopman has agreed to serve as L'Académie's Artistic Advisor. Ton Koopman's music career spans over four decades as a harpsichordist, organist and conductor of the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and Choir. He has appeared as guest conductor with many leading orchestras worldwide, and in January 2010, he will conduct the Boston Symphony, with Yo-Yo Ma as soloist.

Dr. Koopman had this to say about the live recording from L'Académie's debut concert of French Baroque dance music in February 2009: "With great pleasure I listened to the recording of French music played by L'Académie. The impressions are lovely, dansant [dancing], in style and in tune. In short: real French! Congratulations!" -Ton Koopman
